The genius of Timeline is that it lets Facebook monetize word of mouth. But it comes at the cost of turning our conversations into commercials. Rather than designing Timeline to better reflect the more meaningful moments of our lives, Facebook is making it a chronology of consumption.
Could not agree with this more. Just the layout alone lacks a "social" aspect in that I'm shown only my posts - and must search a sidebar for others.
Why do I care about what I post? I know it already; more important is being able to see what others post.
Guess FB has to generate enough ad revenue to satisfy investors now, so corporate greed will be the main factor in any upgrades, changes, etc.
